Lidl has recently announced a refresh of its loyalty scheme, Lidl Plus, which now includes Lidl Plus Offers. These offers provide members with exclusive additional discounts that change weekly. The initiative aims to enhance the loyalty program by offering more personalized savings to customers.
Unlike the existing Lidl Plus coupons, which need to be activated before use, Lidl Plus Offers are automatically applied when scanning the app at checkout. This eliminates the need for manual activation, making it more convenient for customers.
Lidl Plus Offers are designed to complement the existing ‘coupons’ feature, which provides personalized discounts on a changing selection of products tailored to shoppers’ purchase patterns. By collecting data on the discounts customers use and their individual shopping habits, Lidl can offer more relevant coupons.
A Lidl spokesperson highlighted the benefits of the new Plus Offers scheme, stating: ‘We’re able to provide even more personalized discounts through our Lidl Plus for You Coupons, giving customers a tailor-made way of getting the things they love at even lower prices.’
In the most recent weekly cycle, Lidl Plus Offers included discounts on products such as Formil Laundry Gel at £1.99, marking a 40p reduction, and various bakery items, as reported by The Grocer.
Lidl’s affordability as a supermarket has been consistently recognized. In data collected by Which?, Lidl ranked second behind Aldi as the cheapest supermarket in April. The average price for 67 essential food, drink, and household items was £112.90 at Aldi, with Lidl closely behind at £115.23.
Lidl Plus Offers are part of the growing trend of loyalty programs offered by major UK supermarkets. Others include Tesco Clubcard, Sainsbury’s Nectar, the Asda Rewards app, and My Morrisons, each offering discounts or rewards to encourage customer loyalty and spending.
