Lincoln-Way West’s Dargan: A Master of Elasticity on and Off the Court

Lincoln-Way West’s Colin Dargan is not one to skimp on his stretching. Before warm-ups, he performs three deep stretches to prepare his body for action. But that’s not all; during player introductions, he takes it up a notch with two more intense stretches near the serving line. “I love deep stretching before my games,” Dargan confesses. “I feel like if I don’t stretch, I can’t play well. I love to be loose. I love to be stretched out. I don’t want to pull any muscles or get injured.”

Not surprisingly, Dargan’s flexibility extends beyond his pre-game routine. He proudly calls himself “super flexible” and demonstrates it by effortlessly bending his right arm behind his back and touching the back of his head with his hand. This elasticity, he believes, plays a crucial role in his vertical jump and overall performance on the court.

Dargan’s contributions to the Warriors’ success are not limited to his physical abilities. He’s a true energy booster, bringing enthusiasm and motivation to the team. “He’s very dynamic and brings out a lot of energy,” says Warriors coach Frigo. “The ability to have three pins that can continuously perform in the front row and back row is great.”

With the Warriors aiming for a 30-win season, Dargan is focused on continuing his strong performances and inspiring his teammates. His simple philosophy is: “See ball, hit ball, hit ball hard.” And with his exceptional stretching routine and undeniable talent, he’s well-equipped to live up to that mantra.
