Lindsay Mendez’s ‘Merrily We Roll Along’ Co-Stars Officiate and Ring-Bear Wedding to J Alex Brinson

Broadway star Lindsay Mendez recently exchanged vows with actor J Alex Brinson in an intimate New York City ceremony, surrounded by loved ones and her ‘Merrily We Roll Along’ co-stars, Jonathan Groff and Daniel Radcliffe.

Groff took on the role of officiant, while Radcliffe charmingly served as the ring bearer. Photos and videos shared on Instagram captured the heartwarming moments, with Groff standing between the bride and groom in Central Park’s Bethesda Terrace, pronouncing them husband and wife. Another photo showed Radcliffe, dapper in a blue suit and high-top sneakers, handing the wedding bands to Brinson.

Mendez’s three-year-old daughter from a previous relationship also had a special role, standing alongside her mother as a flower girl. The couple’s nuptials came just a month after they announced they were expecting their first child together.

Mendez and Brinson first met on the set of the CBS series ‘All Rise’ and announced their engagement on Christmas Day in December 2023. Their wedding celebration was a joyous occasion, filled with love and laughter, and made even more special by the presence of Mendez’s ‘Merrily We Roll Along’ co-stars.

During an appearance on ‘Late Night with Seth Meyers’ earlier this month, Mendez expressed her excitement about expecting a baby while simultaneously performing on Broadway. She shared that she believed her unborn child would be familiar with the voices of ‘Uncle Dan’ (Radcliffe) and ‘Uncle Jon’ (Groff), as well as the music of Stephen Sondheim.

Mendez, Groff, and Radcliffe currently star together in Broadway’s first revival of ‘Merrily We Roll Along’ at the Hudson Theatre. The musical follows the lives of three best friends over the course of 20 years, with Groff portraying Broadway composer-turned-film producer Franklin Shepard, Radcliffe playing playwright and lyricist Charley Kringas, and Mendez as theatre critic Mary Flynn. The revival, directed by Maria Friedman, made its Broadway debut in October 2023 after a sold-out off-Broadway run at the New York Theatre Workshop in 2022. Performances are scheduled to continue until July 2024.

Meanwhile, Radcliffe is also celebrating becoming a first-time father last year, welcoming a baby boy with his longtime girlfriend Erin Darke in April 2023. He has previously expressed how fatherhood has been the ‘best thing’ that has ever happened to him.
