The Buffalo Sabres have re-hired Lindy Ruff as their head coach after a decade-long absence.
Ruff, 64, coached the Sabres from 1997 to 2013, leading them to the playoffs seven times and winning the Jack Adams Award as the NHL’s Coach of the Year in 2006. He is the franchise’s all-time leader in wins (571) and playoff victories (57).
Ruff returns to Buffalo after stints with the Dallas Stars, New Jersey Devils, and New York Rangers. He was an assistant coach with the Rangers for the past two seasons.
The Sabres are hoping that Ruff can help them return to the playoffs after missing out for the past 11 seasons. The team has a young roster with a lot of potential, but they have struggled to put it all together in recent years.
Ruff is a familiar face in Buffalo, and he knows the city and the market. He is also a respected coach with a lot of experience. The Sabres are hoping that he can be the one to lead them back to the playoffs.
