In the world of dermatology, a single thread can work wonders. Traditional PDO threadlifts involve strategically inserting dissolvable threads under the skin to lift and tighten sagging tissues. The PDO material stimulates collagen production for long-term rejuvenation. While effective, traditional threadlifts can be uncomfortable and require downtime. Now, a gentler alternative has emerged—the liquid PDO threadlift.
Freia Medical, a pioneer in introducing this new treatment to Singapore, explains that liquid PDO is essentially PDO thread dissolved in water. This liquid form allows for even distribution across targeted areas, stimulating the body’s natural collagen and elastin production. Unlike physical threads, there’s no tugging or pulling, making it a more comfortable option for first-timers.
My experience with a liquid PDO threadlift felt more like a skin booster. The initial needle injections were barely noticeable, and the tingling sensation quickly subsided. Another advantage of liquid PDO is its suitability for the undereye area, ideal for addressing tired eyes and dark circles. Dr. Harold Ma, medical director of Freia Medical, carefully targeted my areas of concern: undereye dark circles, eyebags, and hollowing on my temples. In my case, ten physical threads were carefully inserted and pulled tight, an action that felt similar to someone pulling a thread under the skin, but thankfully painless thanks to local anesthetic.
Recovery from physical threads took longer, with pain and swelling subsiding gradually. Liquid threads caused some mild swelling the night of the procedure, which dissipated the next day. Despite the initial swelling and stiffness, my skin appeared brighter, and the under-eye area looked plumper. For lasting results, multiple sessions of liquid PDO threadlifts are recommended, especially for individuals in their 30s and beyond.
