After nine years at the helm of the Liverpool boys basketball program, Ryan Blackwell has announced his departure to take on an assistant coaching position at Sienna College. Blackwell’s exit marks the end of a successful era for the Liverpool Warriors, who have flourished under his leadership over the past decade.
Blackwell’s journey to Liverpool began in 2013 when the school parted ways with former coach Matt Jacob. Liverpool athletic director Ari Liberman received a timely recommendation from former Syracuse University point guard Lazarus Sims, who pointed to Blackwell as the ideal candidate for the role. Blackwell, a former Syracuse star himself, brought a wealth of experience and expertise to the Liverpool program.
Throughout his tenure at Liverpool, Blackwell guided the Warriors to numerous victories and accolades. He fostered a winning culture within the team, instilling in his players the values of hard work, dedication, and teamwork. Blackwell’s leadership and coaching acumen were instrumental in the team’s success, both on and off the court.
Blackwell’s departure from Liverpool leaves a void in the program, but his legacy as a successful and respected coach will continue to inspire future generations of Warriors. As he embarks on a new chapter in his coaching career at Sienna College, Blackwell carries with him the admiration and gratitude of the Liverpool community for his tireless efforts and unwavering commitment to the program.
