Liverpool roared back from their disappointing defeat to Nottingham Forest with a dominant 3-0 victory over Bournemouth at Anfield on Saturday. Luis Diaz was the star of the show, scoring a quick-fire double in the 26th and 29th minutes to set the Reds on their way to a comfortable win. The first goal came after Diaz beat the keeper to a long ball and smashed it home, while the second was a product of a swift counter-attack that saw Bournemouth’s defense sliced open. Darwin Nunez added a third goal in the 36th minute, showcasing his skills with a clever maneuver before curling a left-footed shot into the back of the net. Despite their offensive dominance, Liverpool still looked a little vulnerable at the back, but Bournemouth couldn’t capitalize on those moments and ultimately fell to a deserved defeat.
Meanwhile, Fulham pulled off a major upset, defeating Newcastle 3-1 at Craven Cottage and handing Eddie Howe’s side their first loss of the Premier League season. Fulham’s Raul Jimenez opened the scoring in the 11th minute, capitalizing on a defensive error by Newcastle. Emile Smith Rowe doubled the lead in the 22nd minute, benefiting from a well-placed pass from Alex Iwobi. Newcastle pulled one goal back in the 51st minute through Harvey Barnes, but Fulham sealed the win in injury time when Reiss Nelson pounced on another defensive blunder to fire home from close range.
This loss puts Newcastle in fifth place in the table with 10 points after five games. Fulham, meanwhile, climbed to ninth place with eight points following their second victory of the season.
