Liverpool Football Club has set its sights on Eintracht Frankfurt’s Willian Pacho as their primary transfer target for the upcoming summer window. Their pursuit of a left-footed center-back coincides with their reported interest in appointing Feyenoord manager Arne Slot as Jurgen Klopp’s successor. Although Slot’s potential influence on Liverpool’s transfer strategy remains uncertain, the club has already initiated its search for potential reinforcements. According to reports, Liverpool and Arsenal have approached Frankfurt to inquire about Pacho, 22, who has excelled in his debut Bundesliga season since joining from Royal Antwerp last summer. Capped ten times by Ecuador, Pacho has quickly established himself in the Bundesliga and contributed significantly to Frankfurt’s success this season. The club currently occupies sixth place and is vying for a European berth. According to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Liverpool has prioritized Pacho for their defense, recognizing his potential as a valuable asset. Frankfurt is aware of the growing interest in Pacho from Premier League clubs, and a fee in the region of €50-60 million could persuade them to sell the Ecuadorian. Pacho’s current contract with Frankfurt expires in 2028, having signed a five-year deal when he moved from Belgium to Germany last summer. Frankfurt acquired Pacho for a mere €9 million last June and stands to make a substantial profit if he completes a move to the Premier League. Frankfurt’s sporting director, Markus Krosche, has praised Pacho’s intelligence, eagerness to learn, and exceptional tackling ability. Head coach Dino Toppmoller believes Pacho has the potential to reach world-class status if he maintains his current trajectory and remains grounded.
