WhatsApp Enhances Login Security with Passkey Feature on iPhone
Meta announces the rollout of passkeys for WhatsApp on iOS devices, aiming to improve login security and user convenience. Passkeys provide a more secure and effortless alternative to traditional login methods like SMS verification. Compatible with iOS 17 and onwards, this feature allows users to log into WhatsApp using their Face ID, Touch ID, or passcode.
Passkeys store authentication information on the user’s device, eliminating the need for external verification methods. The feature pairs the stored information with that saved on the device for a seamless login experience. According to WhatsApp’s head of product, Alice Newton-Rex, passkey verification will enhance login security while also providing ease of use for users.
This latest update reinforces WhatsApp’s commitment to safeguarding user data and ensuring convenient access to the messaging platform. By implementing passkeys, WhatsApp embraces a more secure and time-saving login process for its iOS users.
