Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Bank Holiday List for April 26
The Election Commission of India has announced the schedule for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, which will be held in seven phases from April 19 to June 1. The second phase of polling is scheduled to take place on April 26, and banks in several Indian cities will be closed to facilitate voting.
According to the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) holiday calendar for 2024, banks in cities where polling will be held will remain closed on April 26, 2024. This is to ensure that bank employees can exercise their right to vote and that banking services do not disrupt the electoral process.
The second phase of polling will cover 89 constituencies in 13 states and union territories. These include Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jammu and Kashmir, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Manipur, Rajasthan, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal. To ensure smooth voting, various states have declared a general holiday for government offices, schools, colleges, and other institutions that fall within the respective electoral constituencies. This will allow voters to cast their votes without facing any inconvenience.
It is important to note that digital banking services will continue to be operational during the bank holiday. Customers can access their accounts and conduct transactions through online and mobile banking platforms. However, physical bank branches will be closed, and customers may experience delays in cash withdrawals and other in-person banking services.
