London Drugs Reopens Stores, but Prescription Filling Still Halted Due to Connectivity Issue
After a week-long closure due to a cybersecurity incident, London Drugs has gradually reopened its Western Canada stores. As of Monday, 40 stores have resumed core services, with the remaining 79 expected to be operational by the end of Tuesday.
However, the pharmacy giant is still facing some challenges. A connectivity issue is currently preventing London Drugs from filling new prescriptions. The company hopes to resolve this problem soon and has advised customers with urgent needs to contact their local pharmacy or visit in person with their previous prescription containers.
While prescription filling is unavailable, pharmacies are still operating in reopened stores to answer questions and assist with existing prescriptions. Canada Post locations and Insurance Services Call Centre are also open in reopened stores. Optical locations are expected to resume operations by the end of Monday.
London Drugs continues to work on restoring systems with the assistance of cybersecurity experts. The company has assured customers that it has not seen any evidence of compromised customer databases, including those for pharmacy patients and LDExtras members. If personal information is found to be affected, the company will notify customers directly.
