Inkwon Seol, a 44-year-old resident of Long Grove, Illinois, tragically lost his life in a multi-vehicle crash that occurred on Interstate 65 on Tuesday afternoon. The incident took place just south of the ramp to I-80/94, involving a Chevrolet HHR, a 2010 Hyundai Elantra driven by Seol, and a 2017 Dodge Ram pickup. According to the preliminary investigation by Indiana State Police troopers, the Chevrolet HHR failed to slow down as traffic was backing up and rear-ended Seol’s Hyundai Elantra. The impact caused the Elantra to collide with the Dodge Ram pickup, resulting in severe injuries to Seol. He was transported to St. Mary Medical Center in Hobart, where he was pronounced dead at approximately 3:38 p.m. due to multiple blunt force trauma injuries. The crash caused significant traffic delays along I-65 for several hours as troopers conducted their investigation and carried out crash reconstruction. Notably, the incident also coincided with a police pursuit that occurred within the backup. The pursuit ended near the crash site, and a suspect was apprehended by the Lake County Sheriff’s Department. Further details regarding the pursuit were not immediately available.
