Collier Homes, one of Western Australia’s most established residential builders, has entered liquidation after operating for more than 60 years. The Australian Securities and Investment Commission announced the appointment of Robert Conry Brauer and Linda Methven Smith from McGrath Nicol as liquidators. The custom home builder, founded by Raymond McCarthy in 1959, was named after Collier Street in Applecross, where McCarthy resided. In 1969, the company was acquired by a national land developer and has since undergone several ownership changes. Representatives from Collier Homes have yet to comment on the liquidation. Despite efforts to overcome challenges, the company acknowledged the significant supply chain shortages, delays, and labor constraints faced during these challenging times. These factors have resulted in unpredictable cost escalations, putting pressure on builder profit margins, according to a referenced CoreLogic report from April 10, indicating that building costs remain 27.6 percent higher than pre-pandemic levels.
