Lucknow: Tyre Killers Deployed at Two Crossings to Curb Wrong-Way Traffic

Lucknow Traffic Police has deployed ‘tyre killers’ at two prominent crossings to deter vehicles from moving in the wrong direction. Commuters at Barabirwa Crossing and Awadh Chauraha crossing were caught unawares spotting ‘tyre killers’. Another spot where the ‘tyre killers’ have been installed is near Baikunth Dham. Traffic is currently being halted due to ongoing construction on the road. Diversions are currently in place along this route. Once the road reopens after April 25, vehicles traveling via Baikunth Dham will be able to reach Samta Mulak intersection by taking Route 1090 instead of passing through Gomti Barrage.

Traffic Police has sought feedback from the public to ensure smooth traffic flow. Many valuable suggestions have been received. It has been noted that vehicles from Apollo Medics Hospital and Lok Bandhu Hospital often travel in the wrong direction at the Badnam Laddu turn and Barabirwa intersection, causing traffic congestion and increasing the risk of accidents.

According to DCP traffic Salmantaj Patil, tyre killers have been installed at two locations in the city. “If the public suggests additional locations for the installation of these, further installations can be considered after a thorough survey of those areas. Suggestions can be submitted via the traffic helpline number 9454405155,” he said.
