In a major relief for city residents, the Regional Transport Office (RTO) has commenced licensing services at the Automated Driving Test and Online License Centre in Sector 32. Earlier, the center was only conducting driving tests, and for other services, people were forced to travel to the Automated Driving Test and Online License Centre in Civil Lines, over 11 kilometers away.
Now, all these services will be available in both centers, and residents can avail of them at whichever center is closest. Previously, local residents had to visit both centers in one day as scrutiny of documents and driving tests usually took place on the same day. “Scrutiny of documents of applicants who had booked their driving test at the Sector 32 center was conducted at a center located in Civil Lines. Now, all these services are also being offered in Sector 32,” said an official of the transport department.
Officials said that though the registration code was merged four months ago, work pertaining to all licensing services under the jurisdiction of RTO Ludhiana commenced last week at the Automated Driving Test and Online License Centre, Sector 32.
Regional transport officer (RTO), Ludhiana Randeep Singh said, “Earlier, residents struggled as they had to visit both centers. Now, they can avail of all services at the Automated Driving Test and Online License Centre in Sector 32. We are already providing these services at the center in Civil Lines. Residents now have the choice of visiting the center closest to them.”
Meanwhile, the regional transport office has also increased test booking slots at the Automated Driving Test and Online License Centre, Sector 32. Regional Transport Officer (RTO), Ludhiana Randeep Singh said that earlier, the number of driving test booking slots in this center was 68, which has now been increased to 90.
