Lufthansa and Austrian Airlines Expand Winter Network with New Routes to Lapland

Lufthansa and its subsidiary Austrian Airlines are expanding their winter network with the introduction of three new routes to Lapland. Starting in November 2024, Lufthansa will initiate scheduled services from Frankfurt to Rovaniemi, operating twice weekly on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Austrian Airlines will follow suit in December 2024 and January 2025, respectively, with weekly flights from Vienna to Kittilä and Ivalo. These new connections will cater to the growing winter tourism in Lapland, offering travelers convenient access to the region’s pristine landscapes and festive experiences.

Petri Vuori, Finavia’s SVP of Sales & Route Development, expressed enthusiasm for the new routes, highlighting their contribution to Lapland’s flourishing tourism industry. He emphasized the effective collaboration with partners in enhancing Finland’s accessibility.

Lufthansa’s flights from Frankfurt to Rovaniemi will operate from November 30, 2024, to March 29, 2025. Austrian Airlines’ flights from Vienna to Kittilä will run from December 8, 2024, to March 16, 2025, while flights to Ivalo will operate from January 25 to March 1, 2025. Austrian Airlines will also continue its Vienna-Rovaniemi route, which was launched in December 2023, with weekly flights on Saturdays and an additional flight on Wednesdays.
