Lufthansa Group Appoints Experienced Executive to Lead Asia Pacific Operations
The Lufthansa Group is thrilled to announce the appointment of Felipe Bonifatti as Vice President Asia Pacific & Joint Ventures East, effective November 1, 2024. With over 30 years of experience in the aviation industry, Bonifatti brings a wealth of knowledge and leadership skills to this crucial role.
Based in the group’s regional headquarters in Singapore, Bonifatti will oversee all commercial activities in the Asia Pacific region. This includes managing Joint Venture sales, a key focus for the group’s expansion strategy.
Bonifatti’s career journey began in 1992, and he has held various leadership positions within the Lufthansa Group across Latin America, Africa, and the Caribbean. His impressive track record includes successful stints as General Manager for Equatorial Guinea and São Tomé and Príncipe, as well as General Manager for Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru. In Colombia, he was recognized with the Order of Alexander von Humboldt by the Colombian Parliament, a testament to his contributions to the country.
As the youngest executive in the Lufthansa Aviation Group in Latin America, Bonifatti went on to become General Manager for Central America and the Caribbean, where he played a key role in launching the group’s first operations in Central America. He also expanded the group’s presence in the Caribbean, spearheading operations for Austrian Airlines, Eurowings, and Edelweiss.
Bonifatti’s subsequent promotions saw him take on roles as Senior Director, Head of Sales for Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean, followed by his current position as Senior Director for South America and the Caribbean, based in São Paulo, Brazil.
Frank Naeve, Senior Vice President Sales & Distribution at Lufthansa Group, expressed his excitement about Bonifatti’s appointment. Bonifatti, who speaks German, English, Portuguese, and Spanish, is married with two children. He is eager to leverage his experience and expertise to grow the Lufthansa Group’s footprint in the dynamic Asia Pacific region.
