Lynne Lacroix Retires After 42 Years with the City of Saskatoon
Lynne Lacroix, General Manager of the Community Services Division, will bid farewell to her career with the City of Saskatoon this summer after an incredible 42 years of service. In an interview with Global Saskatoon, Lacroix shared reflections on her journey and aspirations for the future.
Lacroix described her emotions as surreal, acknowledging the passage of time while cherishing the experiences. She highlighted the evolving nature of the City, particularly the accelerated pace of change, diverse communication channels, and increased community involvement. Lacroix also noted the expansion of the City’s responsibilities, including new ventures in housing and social development.
As she ascended the ranks, Lacroix expressed immense gratitude for the opportunities provided by the City. She emphasized the exceptional learning and growth she experienced, surrounded by supportive colleagues and mentors. Lacroix acknowledged that each role she held brought its own unique joys, from her beginnings as a lifeguard to her current position as General Manager.
Reflecting on her accomplishments, Lacroix cited the Shaw Centre with joint high schools as a highlight. She played a pivotal role in initiating discussions for the project, resulting in the first leisure center integrated with high schools in the City. Other notable initiatives she led include the Accessibility Action Plan and Immigration Action Plan, both aimed at fostering inclusivity and community impact.
As Lacroix prepares for retirement, she eagerly anticipates spending more time with family and friends. Golf is high on her agenda, along with pursuing other hobbies and learning opportunities. She embraces her lifelong learner identity and plans to explore courses at the university to continue expanding her knowledge.
Throughout her career, Lacroix prioritized a balance between work and personal life. While acknowledging that time constraints sometimes interfered with hobbies and skills development, she remained committed to dedicating time to her loved ones. Now, with retirement on the horizon, she looks forward to a more flexible schedule that will allow her to fully engage in these pursuits.
