In a bid to bolster tourism and showcase the region’s multifaceted appeal, the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) recently organized a familiarization trip for international tourism representatives to Dong’ao and Guishan Islands in Zhuhai. Held on October 18-19, the visit aimed to promote the concept of multi-destination travel and highlight the immense tourism potential of both Macao and Zhuhai.
The delegation, comprised of representatives from countries such as Malaysia, Thailand, Korea, and Samoa, included MGTO’s market representatives and was joined by officials from Zhuhai’s tourism and culture sectors. During the visit, the delegates immersed themselves in the islands’ captivating cultural attractions, explored the top-notch hotel facilities, and gained insights into the ongoing development projects that are shaping the region’s future.
The initiative aligns with MGTO’s strategic vision to expand international tourism markets and solidify Macao’s position as a global hub for tourism and leisure. This trip served as a testament to the growing collaboration between Macao and Zhuhai in the tourism sector. The inauguration of a new ferry route connecting Macao’s Taipa to Zhuhai’s Guishan Island in July 2023 has further enhanced the region’s connectivity and paved the way for seamless multi-destination travel experiences.
This collaborative effort between Macao and Zhuhai signifies a promising future for tourism in the region. By showcasing the unique cultural heritage, diverse attractions, and world-class amenities of both destinations, the MGTO aims to attract a wider international audience and stimulate growth in the tourism sector. The successful familiarization visit served as a platform for fostering understanding, building relationships, and paving the way for future collaborations that will undoubtedly benefit both destinations and elevate their standing within the global tourism landscape.
