Macao Tourism Office Launches Roadshow in Korea to Attract Visitors

Organized by the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO), the “Experience Macao Roadshow in Korea” commenced today (30 May) with a vibrant opening ceremony. This roadshow showcases Macao as a lively and colorful travel destination through its “tourism +” offerings, aiming to attract Korean visitors and dominate this leading international visitor market.

Korea has reclaimed its position as the number one international visitor market. At the ceremony, MGTO Director Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes, Seo Dae Hun from the Korea Association of Travel Agents (KATA), Lee Ho Geun of Good Choice Company — Korea’s major online travel platform, MGTO Korea representative Chris Lew, and Oh Seung Jun from Kakao Pay’s Payment Group led the opening. Also in attendance were representatives from the Economic Development Bureau of the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, six integrated resort enterprises from Macao, Air Macau, and members of the Macao and Korea travel trades.

Senna Fernandes noted in her speech that flight services between Macao and Korea are gradually resuming this year. She emphasized that Korea has regained its status as Macao’s largest international visitor market and the roadshow is an invitation to Korean visitors to explore the unique “tourism +” experiences Macao offers. The goal is to attract a diverse international crowd, thereby providing new energy to Macao, reinforcing its status as a world center for tourism and leisure.

The roadshow, held at Seoul’s Shinsegae Department Store in the upscale Gangnam district, runs for four days under the theme “My Favorite Macao.” It features interactive games, backdrop installations, and booths by the Economic Development Bureau of the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin and six integrated resort enterprises showcasing their latest tourism offerings. Opening day festivities included performances and a popular lucky draw.

To further boost international visitations, MGTO has launched extensive online promotions for the roadshow, including a partnership with GOOD CHOICE, Korea’s largest online travel platform, for exclusive online deals on Macao travel products. Several airlines are also offering special deals. The MGTO’s market representative in Korea collaborates with Yeomi.travel, a travel community platform with over 1.4 million Instagram followers, and has invited several Korean KOLs to enhance the roadshow’s visibility and marketing reach.

MGTO is also intensifying its marketing efforts by leading a delegation of Macao’s travel trade to Korea, hosting the “Macao Tourism + MICE Product Updates Seminar & Korea – Macao Travel Mart.” Additionally, the Office has teamed up with a broadcasting company to produce travelogues about Macao on a popular travel and variety show in Korea, and is advertising at major shopping malls and transport hubs to extend a warm welcome to Korean visitors and promote tourism diversity and economic growth.
