Madhya Pradesh to Launch Vande Metro Train Service Between Indore and Ujjain

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced the launch of a Vande Metro train service between Indore and Ujjain, a significant step aimed at enhancing transportation for devotees ahead of the Simhastha Kumbh Mela scheduled for 2028 in Ujjain.

“The most important decision in this direction is to operate a metro train between Indore and Ujjain, which will also be useful for the convenience of movement of devotees in Simhastha 2028,” stated Mohan Yadav. The Madhya Pradesh government is committed to initiating vital steps to address the burgeoning traffic concerns in the state’s major cities, with a new traffic plan under consideration.

The decision to establish a metro track between the two cities was made at a meeting chaired by the Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister. A feasibility survey was conducted to assess the viability of running metro trains between Indore and Ujjain, and the report has been received by the government.

Yadav also highlighted discussions with Union railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, focusing on the operation of Vande Metro trains at speeds surpassing traditional metro trains. The discussions centered on incorporating state-of-the-art technology, and the potential benefits for industrial areas such as Pithampur and Dewas.

To provide a substantial boost to urban transportation, the recent meeting with the Union railway minister concluded with an agreement to introduce the Vande Metro Circle Train in various cities across Madhya Pradesh. “The Vande Metro Circle Train will replace the old Metro system, offering a substantial benefit to the citizens,” Yadav emphasized.

With the Circle Train facility, the Madhya Pradesh government aims to create an integrated plan for Metro train operations, effectively addressing the growing traffic congestion in various cities.

During Saturday’s meeting, the Madhya Pradesh government also reviewed the progress of ongoing metro projects. The trial run for the first phase of the Bhopal Metro was successfully completed in October last year, with the second and third phases scheduled for completion by 2027. Work on a 31-kilometer-long metro line in Indore is also actively underway.
