Richard Riakporhe and Chris Billam-Smith are finally set to face off for the WBO cruiserweight world title on June 15th at Selhurst Park, and they will be joined by a host of A-list celebrities, including pop icon Madonna.
Riakporhe is expecting some big names to attend, including Madonna, who has expressed interest in seeing the fight if she is in London. The fight is shaping up to be a massive event, with both boxers firmly established in the cruiserweight division and a packed stadium expected.
Riakporhe is undefeated at 17-0 and holds impressive wins over former world champion Krzysztof Glowacki and ex-European titleholder Tommy McCarthy alongside Billam-Smith on his record. In his last outing, he stopped Dylan Bregeon inside two rounds in Wolverhampton.
Billam-Smith picked up the WBO belt by scoring a massive upset over long-reigning champion Lawrence Okolie last May. He went on to retain the strap against Poland’s Mateusz Masternak four months ago and has now been ordered to make a second defense of his title against mandatory challenger, Riakporhe.
