Madonna Faces Lawsuit for Allegedly Late Concert Start Times

Pop icon Madonna is once again facing legal action over allegations that she habitually takes the stage hours after her concerts are scheduled to begin. Three disgruntled fans have filed a federal class-action lawsuit against the singer and concert giant Live Nation, stemming from a pair of performances Madonna gave in Washington, D.C., in December 2022 as part of her Celebration Tour.

According to the complaint obtained by Billboard, the plaintiffs allege that Madonna and Live Nation engaged in false advertising by unlawfully deceiving fans. They claim that the concerts were advertised to start at 8:30 p.m., but the pop star did not appear onstage until 10:30 p.m. This is not an isolated incident, as Madonna has been accused of tardiness on multiple occasions throughout her career.

Earlier this year, two fans filed a separate lawsuit after Madonna took the stage at her New York concert more than two hours after the scheduled start time. Similarly, a Florida man sued Madonna and Live Nation in 2019 for breach of contract after the singer’s Madame X Tour date in Miami commenced two hours late. However, that lawsuit was voluntarily dismissed a month later.

The latest lawsuit seeks damages for breach of contract, fraud, and negligence. The plaintiffs argue that Madonna’s repeated tardiness has caused them emotional distress, financial losses, and a diminished concert experience. The case is currently pending in federal court.
