Eleven newly-elected legislators took oath as members of the Maharashtra legislative council at the Vidhan Bhavan on Sunday. The ruling Mahayuti alliance of the BJP, Shiv Sena, and NCP dominated the elections, securing a clean sweep by winning all nine seats they contested. The BJP emerged as the dominant force, claiming five seats, while the Shiv Sena and NCP secured two seats each.
The Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT) and Congress secured one seat each, while PWP leader Jayant Patil, backed by the NCP (SP), faced defeat. The newly sworn-in BJP MLCs include Pankaja Munde, Parinay Fuke, Yogesh Tilekar, Amit Gorkhe, and Sadabhau Khot. NCP’s Rajesh Vitekar and party general secretary Shivajirao Garje also took oath as MLCs. Bhawana Gawali and Krupal Tumane from the Shiv Sena were sworn in.
Congress’s Pradnya Satav and Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Milind Narvekar completed the list of newly-elected members taking oath at the central hall of the state legislature.
