Ajay Devgn’s latest film, “Maidaan,” has failed to meet expectations at the box office, casting a shadow over his box office success for 2024. Despite a promising start with “Shaitaan,” “Maidaan” has performed poorly, earning only Rs 42.75 crore over three weekends against a reported budget of Rs 250 crore.
The film, which tells the story of Syed Abdul Rahim, the architect of Indian football’s golden period from 1952 to 1962, opened on Eid to a disappointing response. It earned just Rs 4.5 crore on its first day and struggled to gain momentum in the following weeks.
Despite an extended run at the box office, “Maidaan” has only managed to cross the Rs 40 crore mark. The film’s underwhelming performance has impacted Devgn’s box office success for the year, as he had anticipated a strong showing with three more releases planned for 2024.
The failure of “Maidaan” is a setback for Devgn, who has been one of Bollywood’s most bankable stars in recent years. The film’s poor performance is a reminder that even established actors can experience box office disappointments.
