Major Bureaucratic Reshuffle in Rajasthan: 58 IPS and 20 IAS Officers Transferred

Rajasthan underwent a significant bureaucratic shakeup as the state’s personnel department announced the transfer of 58 Indian Police Service (IPS) and 20 Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers. The reshuffle, which was revealed late on Sunday, September 23, 2024, saw a flurry of changes affecting various departments and positions.

Several key positions saw new appointments, including the district collectors and police superintendents of various districts. Among the transferred officers, several Additional Director Generals (ADG) were reassigned to different departments. Govind Gupta, the former ADG for planning, modernization, and welfare, was shifted to the jails department. Anil Paliwal, previously in charge of railways, was moved to technical services (telecommunications and technical) and traffic as director general. Ashok Rathore, the ADG for Vigilance, was reassigned to training. Malini Agrawal, the former ADG for Training, was appointed as the Director General for Civil Rights and Human Trafficking. In addition, eight ADGs and eight Inspector General rank officials were also moved to different roles.

The reshuffle also impacted IPS officers. New IPS officers were assigned to the districts of Alwar, Bhilwara, Jaipur Rural, Ajmer, Bikaner, Tonk, Beawar, Kota Rural, Jodhpur Rural, Bundi, Deedwana-Kuchaman, Behror, Hanumangarh and Balotra. Meanwhile, the charge of the Kekri, Shahpura, and Sanchor districts was handed over to the SPs of other districts. The deputy commissioner of police (DCP) for Jaipur (East) was also changed. Bikaner’s SP Tejaswani Gautam has been appointed as Jaipur (East) DCP, replacing Kavendra Singh Sagar.

Among the transferred IAS officers, Bhawani Singh Detha, a member of the Revenue Board Ajmer, was appointed as the principal secretary for Ayurveda. Ambrish Kumar, who was awaiting posting, was appointed as the secretary of the medical education department. Urmila Rajoria, the Kota divisional commissioner (DC), was transferred to the administrative reforms department as secretary. Pali’s DC, Pratibha Singh, will now take charge as Jodhpur DC. The district collectors of Deeg, Rajsamand, Deedwana-Kuchaman, Sawai Madhopur and Beawar districts were also replaced. These transfers are expected to bring a fresh perspective and new strategies to the respective departments and districts.
