A significant fire broke out at a building in the Manipur secretariat complex, close to Chief Minister N Biren Singh’s official residence, on Saturday. Firefighters rushed to the scene with three fire tenders to control the blaze. No injuries or casualties have been reported thus far. The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
According to NDTV, the building is also adjacent to the Kuki Inpi’s office, a civil society organization representing the Kuki tribes. This incident follows an attack on CM Biren Singh’s advance convoy in Jiribam due to reports of renewed violence in the area.
Reacting to the Manipur violence, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Chief Mohan Bhagwat stressed the need to prioritize the situation in the state, which has been seeking peace for a year. He expressed concern over the resurgence of violence and emphasized the need to address the issue promptly.
BJP MLA Rajkumar Imo Singh had earlier raised concerns about security breaches and demanded an inquiry into police officers who received advance intelligence reports regarding the situation in Jiribam earlier this year.
