Malaysia Airlines Hosts Inaugural Global Trade Elevation Summit 2024

Malaysia Airlines hosted the inaugural Global Trade Elevation Summit 2024 on Friday, July 12, 2024, bringing together industry leaders to discuss innovations and advancements in global trade. The summit was a landmark occasion for Malaysia Airlines, enhancing its contribution to the Visit Malaysia Year 2026 (VMY2026) and elevating Kuala Lumpur’s status as a primary entry point to Asia. It further reinforced Malaysia’s standing as a central ASEAN hub for tourism and aviation.

The event, a collaborative effort with Tourism Malaysia (TM) and the Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB), drew 300 participants, including more than 200 from abroad, spanning 48 cities across 21 countries. Key leaders across global trade sectors engaged in discussions to shape future endeavors, forge international alliances, and bolster Malaysia’s global tourism stature. This gathering highlighted Malaysia Airlines’ dedication to using its influence as a national carrier to further the country’s tourism goals.

Group Managing Director of Malaysia Aviation Group, the parent company of Malaysia Airlines, Datuk Captain Izham Ismail commented on the significance of the summit, stating, “This summit transcended the typical conference; it celebrated partnerships that embody Malaysia Airlines’ inclusive spirit as we collaborate globally for mutual growth. We eagerly anticipate showcasing Malaysia’s hospitality and advancing tourism objectives through strategic alliances. We are pleased to collaborate with industry leaders, including travel agents worldwide and Malaysian stakeholders like Tourism Malaysia and MyCEB to drive innovation, efficiency and growth in the aviation industry and beyond. We will continue leveraging these partnerships to fuel our expansion, increase our reach and commit our efforts to drive growth both domestically and globally, and look forward to forging strategic partnerships that form a robust network, broadening our market reach.”

In addition to the summit discussions, the event also included the debut of the Golden Wau Awards. This pioneering recognition within the industry was designed to honor the highest-achieving sales agents whose efforts have substantially increased revenue. The awards serve not just to acknowledge superior performance but also to underscore the critical role of trade partners in the expansion of Malaysia Airlines. The introduction of this award is intended to establish new benchmarks for the industry and motivate all trade partners toward excellence, thus playing a key role in the growth of Malaysia Airlines and boosting Malaysia’s profile in the international tourism arena.
