Maldives Eliminates Outbound Traveler Declaration Form, Simplifying Departure Procedures

In a significant move to enhance the travel experience, the Maldives has announced the elimination of the ‘Traveller Declaration’ form for outbound travelers. This change, effective from August 15, 2024, comes as part of the government’s strategy to streamline travel procedures and make the journey more convenient for all passengers.

The initiative, spearheaded by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, was detailed in circular 94-CBS/CIR/2024/4. The removal of this bureaucratic requirement is expected to benefit frequent travelers and business professionals significantly, as they will no longer need to complete the form before departing the Maldives. This change will speed up airport procedures and reduce the time required for departure preparations.

While the ‘Traveller Declaration’ form is no longer mandatory for outbound travelers, it remains a requirement for all incoming travelers. Incoming passengers are still required to submit the form 96 hours prior to their arrival. All essential security and immigration screenings will continue to be enforced, ensuring a safe travel environment for all.

This policy update further strengthens the Maldives’ position as a leading travel destination, recognized for its exceptional hospitality and streamlined travel processes. The removal of the outbound ‘Traveller Declaration’ form is another step towards creating a more seamless and enjoyable travel experience for visitors.
