A man has been found dead and a woman has suffered serious head injuries at a home north of Brisbane, sparking a murder investigation that’s led to the arrest of a young man.
The dead man and injured woman, both aged in their 70s, were found at a gated home in Bramston Ct in Burpengary East about 9am on Thursday. Police had been called there for a welfare check.
The woman has been rushed to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, where she is receiving treatment. Her condition is described as serious but stable.
A 26-year-old Boondall man is in custody assisting police with their inquiries. He was arrested at a home in Boondall a short time after the bodies were discovered.
A crime scene has been declared at the home in Burpengary East, and forensic officers are currently examining the scene.
Police are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward. They are particularly interested in speaking to anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious in the Bramston Ct area on Thursday morning.
A press conference will be held at the Burpengary Police Station on Thursday afternoon to provide further details about the investigation.
