A man in Collier County, Florida had a close call with an 11-foot alligator on Friday. Rick Fingeret was walking his two Labrador retrievers near a pond in The Quarry off Immokalee Road when the alligator attacked. Fingeret tried to fight off the reptile, but it had him by the leg. Fortunately, his neighbor, Walter Rudder, was driving by and saw what was happening. Rudder ran over the alligator with his car, which released Fingeret from its mouth. Fingeret survived the attack, but said he did not know what would have happened if his neighbor had not helped him.
