Man Pleads Guilty in Fox News Hacking Conspiracy
A man named Marco Gaudino pleaded guilty Monday to conspiracy in connection with an alleged hacking of computer systems tied to Fox News and other outlets. According to federal court documents, Gaudino conspired with journalist Tim Burke, the husband of Tampa city official Lynn Hurtak. Gaudino faces up to five years in prison as part of his plea deal.
Gaudino admitted to accessing unauthorized computer systems, including those belonging to Fox News. He agreed to cooperate with the investigation and provide testimony against others involved in the scheme. Gaudino’s attorney stated that his client has accepted responsibility for his actions and is seeking leniency due to his young age, autism spectrum disorder, and lack of prior criminal history.
The case against Burke is ongoing, and he has maintained his innocence. His attorney claims that the indictment resulted from a complaint by Fox News over Burke’s acquisition of unaired footage of Tucker Carlson and Kanye West. The footage contained controversial statements and conspiracy theories, and Burke allegedly took steps to conceal his involvement.
The investigation into the alleged hacking continues, and sentencing for Gaudino has not yet been scheduled. The outcome of Burke’s case and the potential involvement of other individuals remain to be determined.
