Manchester City Signs Brazilian Star Savinho for €40 Million

Manchester City, the reigning Premier League champions, have completed the signing of Brazilian international Savinho for a fee of €40 million ($43.6 million). The 20-year-old forward, also known as Savio, joins from City’s sister club Troyes and has signed a five-year contract.

Savinho spent last season on loan at another of City’s sister clubs, Girona, where he played a pivotal role in their qualification for next season’s Champions League. His impressive performances, including 11 goals and 10 assists, caught the attention of many, making him one of the standout players in LaLiga last year.

“I’m so happy to be joining Manchester City, the Premier League champions and Club World Cup winners. Everyone knows they are the best team in the world right now, so to be here is very exciting for me,” Savinho expressed in a statement.

Beyond his club success, Savinho has also earned recognition at the international level. He was part of Brazil’s squad for the Copa America and has already collected seven caps for his country.

City’s director of football, Txiki Begiristain, highlighted the excitement surrounding Savinho’s arrival. “Savinho is a very exciting player and I think the City fans are really going to enjoy watching him,” Begiristain said. “What he achieved last season at Girona was remarkable and he is already a full Brazil international. He has a big role to play for Manchester City this season and beyond.”

Troyes and Girona are both part of the City Football Group of clubs, which also includes New York City and other teams worldwide. Savinho’s transfer to Manchester City marks another significant addition to their squad as they look to continue their dominance on both domestic and European stages.
