Manchester United’s hopes of securing a victory at Selhurst Park were dashed as they were held to a frustrating 0-0 draw by Crystal Palace. Despite dominating possession and creating a number of chances, Erik ten Hag’s side couldn’t find the back of the net.
The game was a far cry from the humiliating 4-0 defeat United suffered at the hands of Palace in May, which marked a low point in their season. This time around, the Red Devils looked in control for much of the first half, creating several clear-cut opportunities. Alejandro Garnacho and Bruno Fernandes both came agonizingly close to scoring, with their powerful shots cannoning off the crossbar within seconds of each other.
The second half saw a more spirited performance from Oliver Glasner’s Palace side, who began to pose a real threat to United’s goal. Andre Onana, the United keeper, was called into action on several occasions, making a remarkable double save to deny Eddie Nketiah and then Ismaila Sarr.
The draw leaves Manchester United in 11th place on the Premier League table with seven points, while Crystal Palace remains in 16th place with three points. Ten Hag’s men will be left ruing their missed opportunities, as they continue their pursuit of a return to the top of the table.
