Mandhana Drops, Harmanpreet Rises in ICC Women’s ODI Batting Rankings

In the latest ICC Women’s ODI batting rankings released on Tuesday, India’s vice-captain Smriti Mandhana experienced a drop to the fourth spot while skipper Harmanpreet Kaur made a significant jump, climbing two positions to reach ninth. Mandhana, with 738 rating points, maintained her position within the top 10 following a remarkable performance against South Africa, accumulating 343 runs in the three-match series. Meanwhile, South African captain Laura Wolvaardt continued her impressive ascent towards the top spot, advancing three places to second. This remarkable rise comes on the back of her exceptional recent performances against India, leaving her just 16 rating points behind the current No. 1 ranked batter, England’s Nat Sciver-Brunt.

Despite South Africa’s 0-3 series loss to India, Wolvaardt consistently shone with the bat. Her outstanding 135 not out in the second game of the series in Bengaluru was a clear highlight. Further cementing her position, she delivered a handy 65 in the final match, closing in on Sciver-Brunt’s top ranking. Wolvaardt’s teammate Marizanne Kapp also experienced a positive shift, rising two spots to seventh in the ODI batter rankings. Indian batter Jemimah Rodrigues, displaying her prowess, gained four places to 29th after impressive contributions with the bat against South Africa.

In the ODI bowlers’ rankings, South African spinner Nonkululeko Mlaba witnessed a significant climb, moving five places to a joint 22nd position. This rise was driven by her impactful performance in the series against India, claiming four wickets. Meanwhile, a pair of Sri Lankan players made considerable progress following their impressive showings in the series against the West Indies. Spinner Kavisha Dilhari rose eight places to 34th, earning her series-best seven wickets against the Caribbean side. Her teammate Udeshika Prabodhani also made a notable leap, climbing six spots to 22nd.

India’s Deepti Sharma, maintaining her position as a force in the rankings, remained static at the fourth position with 671 rating points.
