A Delhi street food vendor has found himself at the center of an online storm after creating a unique, yet controversial, dish: mango momo. The vendor, inspired by another vendor’s viral video of mango omelettes, decided to combine mangoes with the popular steamed dumplings, creating a sauce made with mangoes, cheese, vegetables, cream, spices, and even Maaza.
The video, shared by a food blogger on Instagram, has garnered nearly 800,000 views, with many social media users expressing their disgust at the unconventional food combination.
The vendor defends his creation, claiming he tries everything himself before serving it to others and that customers have actually praised the taste. He even playfully suggests that his innovation might land him a spot on a Masterchef TV show.
However, the online reaction has been overwhelmingly negative. Users have slammed the vendor with harsh criticism, using strong language to express their disapproval. Some have jokingly suggested adding poison to the dish, while others have expressed concern about the vendor’s culinary choices and his inspiration, the mango omelette seller.
The controversy highlights the fine line between culinary innovation and public acceptance, with the mango momo serving as a prime example of a dish that, despite its creator’s enthusiasm, has failed to win over the online community.
