An urgent manhunt has been launched for a prisoner who escaped from his guards while attending the funeral of a family member in Edinburgh. Jamie Ross, 29, got away after he was taken to Mortonhall Crematorium in Edinburgh on Tuesday.
Specialist officers have been brought in to help track down the criminal, while members of the public have been told not to approach him. Ross was last seen near the Cameron Toll shopping area of Edinburgh. He is 5ft 9ins with dark hair and has the word ‘Dad’ tattooed on his right hand. He has links to Edinburgh and Aberdeen.
At the time of his absconding, Ross was wearing a black puffer jacket, with dark trousers and grey trainers. Police Scotland Chief Inspector Mark Hamilton said: ‘Extensive enquiries are ongoing to trace Jamie with support from specialist officers. While Jamie is believed to have connections to the south of Edinburgh we are keeping an open mind regarding his whereabouts at this time and would urge anyone with information to please get in touch.’
