Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi has launched a scathing attack on the National Conference (NC)-Congress alliance in Jammu and Kashmir, accusing them of harboring intentions to merge the region with Pakistan if they form the government. Manjhi, speaking in Gaya on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, alleged that the alliance’s agenda includes reintroducing Article 370, a move he claims would be detrimental to the interests of Scheduled Tribes and Castes.
Manjhi’s accusations stem from his belief that the Congress’s alliance with the NC signifies their shared objective. He asserted that the Congress’s alliance with Farooq Abdullah, the NC leader, indicates their support for policies detrimental to the region.
He further blamed former Prime Ministers Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi for the situation in Kashmir and Bangladesh. He criticized Nehru’s handling of Kashmir, claiming that a complete integration at the time could have prevented the current issues. He also criticized Indira Gandhi’s decision to create Bangladesh, arguing that its integration with India could have avoided the current situation and the alleged mistreatment of minorities in Bangladesh.
Manjhi also accused Pakistan and Bangladesh of actively working to spread a single religion across the globe. He asserted that India’s government will actively combat any instances of persecution against minorities.
Manjhi’s remarks come amidst the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Elections in 2024. His accusations are likely to fuel political tensions in the region and intensify the campaign leading up to the elections.
