Manor Lords: Pricing Information Delayed to Avoid Regional Disparities and Scammers

Manor Lords, the highly anticipated medieval city management game, is set to enter early access in just two days. However, publisher Hooded Horse has yet to announce its pricing information. In a recent Reddit post, CEO Tim Bender explained the reasons behind this decision, citing concerns over managing expectations and avoiding scams.

Hooded Horse emphasizes that Manor Lords will not have a single global price. Instead, it will have regional prices to make the game more affordable for players in different parts of the world. Bender explains that some regions use US Dollar pricing but at different rates to accommodate local economic conditions.

Announcing the price before launch could create a misconception that the game is unaffordable in certain regions, even if disclaimers were attached. To avoid this, Hooded Horse has decided to delay the price announcement until closer to launch.

Furthermore, Hooded Horse is concerned about potential scammers who may try to take advantage of excited fans. These scammers may claim to offer pre-orders despite Hooded Horse’s stance against them. The company warns that these individuals have no keys and will not obtain any from Hooded Horse.

Hooded Horse assures players that Manor Lords will not be priced at AAA levels and that launch discounts will be offered for the first few weeks. The company emphasizes its commitment to providing a fair price and avoiding predatory practices.

Manor Lords is Slavic Magic’s upcoming medieval city management game that aims to offer an immersive and grounded experience. Despite initial speculation, it is not an RPG or a Total War competitor. IGN reviewed the early access build and gave it a 7/10, praising its immersive world and gameplay but acknowledging its early development status.
