Marco Reus Joins LA Galaxy in Major League Soccer

In a major coup for Major League Soccer, LA Galaxy have secured the signature of German attacking midfielder Marco Reus on a two-and-a-half-year deal. The 35-year-old, a legend at Borussia Dortmund, departs the Bundesliga club after a remarkable 12-year stint, ending his career in Germany to join the Galaxy as a free agent.

Reus’s final game for Dortmund was the Champions League final against Real Madrid in June, a match that ended in defeat for the German side. His move to LA Galaxy signifies the club’s ambition and commitment to building a formidable squad.

“For Marco, a two-time Bundesliga Footballer of the Year, to join the Galaxy after playing his entire career in Germany is a testament to the project we are continuing to build at the club,” LA Galaxy General Manager Will Kuntz stated.

Reus leaves Dortmund with a legacy of 170 goals in 429 games. He captained the club for five years until 2023, leading them to two German Cups. His international career saw him score 15 goals in 48 appearances for Germany.

Galaxy coach Greg Vanney highlighted Reus’s winning mentality and leadership qualities, stating, “He is a proven winner and leader whose talent and vision for the game will integrate seamlessly into the group as we prepare for the restart of the league and the run into the playoffs.”

LA Galaxy currently sit atop the Western Conference and are poised for a strong playoff run. Reus’s arrival further strengthens their squad, and he will be looking to make an immediate impact as they seek MLS Cup glory. The deal will keep Reus at the club until the end of the 2026 season.
