Mariacarla Boscono, the renowned supermodel, exchanged vows with Olympic pole vaulter Claudio Stecchi in a fairytale wedding ceremony held in the picturesque setting of Villa Valguarnera in Bagheria, Sicily. Their love story, a testament to a connection forged through shared passions and long-distance correspondence, unfolded in a celebration that was as intimate as it was grand.
The wedding was a testament to the couple’s shared appreciation for artistry, history, and family heritage. Boscono, radiant in a custom Dolce & Gabbana Alta Moda gown, chose to celebrate her love story through a series of looks that reflected the spirit of the location and her personal style. The dress, crafted from lace and upcycled vintage Sicilian fabrics, was a labor of love, each layer telling a story of tradition and modernity. The cape, an exquisite creation of 2,000 meters of pleated tulle strips, draped over the gown like a whisper of history, while a crown of porcelain flowers adorned with tiny crystals added a touch of ethereal beauty.
The bride’s choice of attire was a testament to her desire to create a wedding that celebrated her roots, incorporating the legacy of her grandmothers and great-grandmothers into the design. “We weren’t interested in any specific brand or particular dress, but rather in a story we wanted to tell about the wedding,” Boscono shared. “It started, therefore, after we chose the location, Bagheria, a small city in Sicily. We did a lot of research, which is one of the things we love to do most. After that, everything came together.”
The collaboration with Dolce & Gabbana was a seamless affair, with the designs unfolding organically over several meetings. “In New York, Domenico and I chatted and looked at books,” she recalls. “We wanted to tell the story of a bride who made a dress by opening all her family’s trunks and using the lace and fabrics that she found and that once belonged to her grandmothers and great-grandmothers, creating a garment that incorporates love and family.”
The ceremony, officiated by the couple’s close friend Natalia Vodianova, was a celebration of love, friendship, and artistic expression. Guests were treated to a series of spontaneous performances that brought the wedding to life. Vodianova’s son Viktor showcased his musical talent on the grand piano, while Skin from Skunk Anansie, DJ Davide Quillace, drag artist Violet Chachki, and model Loli Bahia added their unique flair to the festivities. The guest list reflected the couple’s connections across various creative spheres, including fashion designers Raf Simons and Riccardo Tisci, and models Rianne Van Rompaey, Mica Argañaraz, and Vittoria Ceretti.
The wedding menu was a feast of traditional Sicilian cuisine, crafted with local seasonal produce. The wedding cake, made in a convent using a 100-year-old secret recipe, was a sweet testament to the legacy of generations past. The wedding day concluded with a party that reflected the couple’s love for music and entertainment, culminating in a performance by the talented singer Giorgia.
Mariacarla Boscono and Claudio Stecchi’s wedding was a celebration of love, family, and artistic expression, beautifully woven together in the heart of Sicily. The couple’s choice to personalize their wedding with details that reflected their shared heritage and passions created a truly unforgettable event, making it a celebration that will surely be cherished for years to come.
