Mark Wood will replace the retired James Anderson in the England squad for the second Test against West Indies at Trent Bridge, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) announced on Saturday. Anderson, 41, brought an end to his remarkable career on Friday after the conclusion of the first Test at Lord’s, where England triumphed by an innings and 114 runs. With 704 wickets in 188 Tests over 21 years, Anderson finished as the third-highest wicket-taker in Test cricket history.
Wood, a pace bowler known for his aggressive style, will be eager to make a strong return to the Test arena after his last appearance against India in March. He has played 34 Tests, claiming 108 wickets. The second Test is scheduled to commence on Thursday, July 13th, with the third and final Test of the series set to begin at Birmingham on July 26th.
