Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Swings onto PC in January 2025, But No New Story Content

Get ready to experience the web-slinging action of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 on your PC! Insomniac Games, the studio behind the critically acclaimed game, announced during New York Comic Con that the PC version will swing onto Steam and the Epic Games Store on January 30, 2025. This highly anticipated release brings the 2023 action-adventure game of the year contender to a wider audience, with all the bells and whistles.

The PC version will feature all updates made to the game since its initial release, including the popular New Game Plus mode. It also boasts a collection of 12 added suits, including stylish variations for the iconic Symbiote suit, and new photo mode features like the fun action figure mode.

Just like the PlayStation 5 version, players will have the choice between two editions: the standard edition, which includes the base game and all updates, and the digital deluxe edition, offering a bundle of exclusive suits, early unlocks, and additional photo mode features. The PC version will also benefit from a suite of enhanced features, such as improved ray tracing, promising a visually stunning experience.

However, there’s a slight catch: Insomniac Games confirmed that there won’t be any additional story content for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 on PC. While this news may disappoint some fans, it’s important to remember that the game will still feature all of the previously released post-launch content.

This decision comes as a surprise, considering the success of the three-episode story DLC, “The City That Never Sleeps,” released for the first Spider-Man game. This DLC expanded the story with intriguing characters like Black Cat, Silver Sable, and Hammerhead, along with new enemies and suits. Furthermore, Spider-Man 2 left some plot threads hanging that felt ripe for expansion in a DLC.

Despite this news, Insomniac Games isn’t done with Spider-Man or the Marvel universe. Following the release of Spider-Man 2, the studio faced a significant ransomware attack that leaked data on upcoming projects. However, despite this setback, the studio is committed to bringing more Marvel games to life, including a Wolverine game and two upcoming X-Men titles. Additionally, they had plans for more Spider-Man game content, including a third game and a standalone Venom title.

While fans may be disappointed about the lack of new story content for the PC version, they can still look forward to experiencing the captivating world of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 on a new platform, with enhanced features and all the exciting content from the previous versions. With the game’s arrival on PC in just a few months, the web-slinging fun is about to get even more accessible.
