A new survey has revealed a startling trend: a significant number of New Yorkers, approximately 37 percent, are contemplating moving out of the Empire State within the next five years. This exodus is fueled by a widespread belief that the state has become unlivable, with a staggering 7.4 million residents planning to leave. These findings represent a marked increase from 2011, when only 26 percent of New Yorkers expressed a desire to leave.
The survey also shed light on the reasons behind this mass exodus. Over 51 percent of respondents cited the state’s worsening economy as a primary factor in their decision to relocate. Additionally, many New Yorkers who previously moved to Florida are now seeking greener pastures elsewhere.
