Matt Ryan Retires as a Falcon, Ending 16-Year NFL Career
Former Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan has officially retired, ending a highly successful 16-year NFL career. Ryan, known as ‘Matty Ice’ by Falcons fans, spent 14 seasons with the team before moving to the Indianapolis Colts in 2022. He was drafted by the Falcons No. 3 overall in the 2008 NFL draft and won the Offensive Rookie of the Year award.
Ryan earned four Pro Bowl nods and led Atlanta to six playoff appearances, including a Super Bowl run. He retired with 62,792 passing yards and 381 touchdowns.
Ryan’s retirement speech was a heartfelt tribute to his coaches, teammates, and fans. He thanked everyone who helped him along the way and expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to play in Atlanta.
