Mayawati Promises Separate State for Western UP, Allahabad High Court Bench in Meerut

BSP Pledges Separate State for Western UP, Allahabad High Court Bench in Meerut

Addressing an election rally in Meerut, BSP chief Mayawati pledged to establish a separate state encompassing districts of western Uttar Pradesh and set up an Allahabad High Court bench in Meerut if her party wins power at the Centre.

Mayawati criticized the Congress, BJP, and Samajwadi Party (SP), particularly on the issue of reservation for SC/ST communities. She accused the SP of opposing quota benefits for these communities and vowed to address the region’s needs and demands.

Mayawati recalled that her previous government in Uttar Pradesh had passed a resolution for a separate state, which was sent to the Centre. “Our party has always believed that the western region should be made a separate state for better development,” she said. “We had sent the resolution to the central government, but they did not act on it. When our party comes to power at the Centre, your western UP will be made a separate state.”

Mayawati also promised to establish an Allahabad High Court bench in Meerut, a longstanding demand of the region. “We will take positive steps with regards to your longstanding demand,” she said. “The central government has not been paying attention to it, but when we come to power at the Centre, we will take positive steps in this regard.”

Mayawati urged voters to reject the Congress, BJP, and their supporting parties in the Lok Sabha elections. She criticized their policies and alleged that they have not helped ensure the real development and uplift of the poor, Dalits, adivasis, backwards, Muslims, and other religious minorities.

Mayawati is fielding Dervrat Tyagi as the BSP candidate from Meerut in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, marking a departure from the past when the party had fielded Muslim candidates in the constituency. Voting in Meerut will be held in the second phase on April 26, with BJP candidate Arun Govil and Samajwadi Party’s Sunita Verma also contesting.
