During a flight to Miami for a conference, Mayor Eric Adams faced criticism from a young woman who confronted him over his alleged inaction on Palestine and homelessness. The woman accused Adams of supporting the “genocide in Palestine,” ignoring the plight of homeless New Yorkers, and prioritizing police funding over social services.
According to a shaky iPhone video circulating on social media, Adams remained silent as the woman’s rhetoric intensified. A detective with the mayor then stood up to block her access to him. The woman continued her accusations, stating that Adams was “always partying” and did not care about the city’s citizens.
The mayor’s office and the NYPD did not immediately respond to requests for comment on the encounter. Adams returned to New York City on Tuesday after attending the conference, which was a gathering of public officials and business leaders from North America and Latin America.
Adams’ popularity has recently taken a dive, according to a poll conducted earlier this month. The Manhattan Institute survey found that only 31% of New Yorkers approve of his performance, while two-thirds said they would vote for someone else in the next election.
