McDonald’s has just launched a limited-edition milkshake that’s causing a stir in the UK. The Grimace Shake, a blueberry-flavored delight named after the brand’s purple mascot, is only available for a week, so I decided to give it a try and see what all the hype was about.
Having low expectations as someone who doesn’t typically order from McDonald’s, I was pleasantly surprised. The Grimace Shake was a surprisingly tasty treat. At £2.59 for a medium and £2.99 for a large, it’s slightly pricier than their standard milkshake options, but the unique flavor makes it worth the extra cost.
The first thing I noticed was the pale lilac color. Opening the lid, I was greeted with a fruity scent reminiscent of bubblegum. While I was a bit disappointed that it didn’t have its own special packaging given the online buzz, it didn’t detract from the overall experience.
The shake itself was thick and required a few minutes to melt before I could take my first sip. The blueberry flavor was strong, but balanced with a sweet vanilla undertone. It reminded me of a blueberry muffin, but with a delightful tartness. If you’re a fan of Jaffa Cakes or strawberry-flavored Cadbury Roses, this milkshake is definitely for you.
While the Grimace Shake is only available until September 3rd, I’d recommend giving it a try if you’re a berry enthusiast. It’s a perfect way to end the summer and prepare for the autumnal flavors to come. I’ve already planned to order another one before it disappears for good!
