Meadow Drove in Bourne, Lincolnshire, is set to undergo a major resurfacing project starting on Wednesday, September 4th, 2024. The project, costing a substantial £130,000, is designed to enhance the safety and longevity of the road.
To facilitate the project, Meadow Drove will be closed from the junction of Main Road/Dyke Drove to the junction of Mill Drove. The closure will remain in place until Friday, September 13th, 2024, when the project is expected to be completed. Work will be conducted from 7 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday, weather permitting.
During the project, a signed diversion route will be in place, directing motorists via Mill Drove, North Road (A15), Main Road, and vice versa.
Councillor Richard Davies, Executive Member for Highways at Lincolnshire County Council, expressed enthusiasm for the project, stating, “We have been carrying out a lot of work in and around the Bourne area recently, and I’m delighted that we can add to that with this latest scheme. Resurfacing Meadow Drove will put many more years of life into the road and make it much nicer and safer to travel on.”
The project involves replacing the existing road surface, which has reached the end of its service life, and restoring verges that have been encroached upon by vehicles. “This improvement is part of our ongoing road uplift across the county,” Davies added. “We have to put a diversion route using like-for-like roads in place for the safety of road users and the crew. I would like to thank everyone affected for their patience and understanding while we deliver this work for Bourne.”
The road closure and diversion are crucial for ensuring the safety of both motorists and the workers involved in the project. The council appreciates the community’s patience and cooperation as they work to improve the road infrastructure in Bourne.
