HMD Introduces Pulse Series: Repairable Smartphones with a Sustainable Edge
HMD Global, the manufacturer behind Nokia smartphones, has unveiled a new series of Android-powered devices called the HMD Pulse. These smartphones break away from traditional industry practices by emphasizing self-reparability and sustainability.
The HMD Pulse series comprises the Pulse Pro, Pulse+, and Pulse models, each with distinct features. All three models sport a unique design that makes home repairs a breeze. Users can effortlessly replace damaged components such as displays, charging ports, or batteries, eliminating the need for costly repairs or trips to service centers. Repair kits will be available in partnership with iFixit, starting from £17.99.
In addition to their repairable nature, the HMD Pulse phones boast an array of user-friendly features. The Pulse Pro stands out with its impressive 50MP selfie camera, promising stunning self-portraits. The Pulse+ and Pulse models offer equally impressive cameras and large displays for an immersive viewing experience.
Complementing these features, the HMD Pulse series incorporates AI image editing capabilities, enhancing family photos automatically. The devices also boast a sleek design, fast charging support, and a range of colors to match user preferences.
While the Pulse series lacks 5G connectivity, it compensates with reliable 4G antennas. The HMD Pulse+ features a 6.65-inch display and a 50MP rear camera, starting at £129.99. The HMD Pulse, also with a 6.65-inch display, offers a more economical option with a 13MP dual-lens rear camera. Pricing for the premium Pulse Pro model has yet to be announced.
Lars Silberbauer, CMO of Human Mobile Devices (HMD), expressed the company’s commitment to innovation and sustainability. “We’ve got our finger on the pulse,” he said. “Repair is the cornerstone of a fresh chapter in smartphone innovation. Forget the ordinary; this is a new era of smartphone sophistication with substance.”
The HMD Pulse+ and HMD Pulse are now available online at hmd.com, with the Pulse Pro expected to follow shortly. The devices will also be available at Vodafone and O2 stores nationwide.
